Kurt Gardner Photography Gallery
For as long as I can recall there has been a camera in my hand…
Growing up, my father John Gardner, would always have cameras and film in the house, playing with these items was very normal in our home.
However, my fathers actual day to day job was a mystery to me, other than knowing he worked at KODAK.
He’d get up, eat breakfast and go to work.
He’d come home be with us kids, have dinner and bed for another day of the same.
One day it was "Bring your child to work day".
So we got up, ate breakfast and off to work we went…I was a bit confused when confronted with massive developing tanks, photo studios and enlargers?
I quickly learned how amazing my father’s job really was!
My dad John Gardner, was a Master Black & White printer for KODAK, not an easy job.
I became hooked on the process of developing my own film.
Watching the actual massive fibre based prints on a vacuum board wall, with an 8x10 enlarger mounted on the floor track in a huge movie theatre style dark room was beyond impressive.
Everything finally made sense.
Today 25+ years later I can still recall that first introduction into what would become a lifetime love of photography.
Presently I travel on assignment from Old Forge to anywhere the Advertising & Fashion Photography world takes me. However, Old Forge, NY is home and Old Forge is where you’ll find my Fine Art Photography Gallery.
Our Gallery is nestled on Main Street across the street from the “Candy Store” and next door to “Wilderness Interiors.”
The images presented within this website as well as in our Gallery were all taken in and around Old Forge as well as the surrounding areas of Inlet, Raquette Lake, Still Water Reservoir, Lake Placid and the High Peaks region.
Nature has always been Inspirational and for me in 2014, nature was also healing…
That year I suffered a medical emergency in which three discs and two vertebrae were removed from my neck. Afterwards a second surgery was necessary making me unable to work for 8 months.
I was told by the Doctors to sit and rest for a while, to be grateful that I could still walk But NOT to push my luck. Sitting and watching life pass by was not in me…So I picked up my camera and went out into the Adirondacks at all hours of the day & Night… I lost myself in the beauty and resilience of these mountains and the vastness of our night skis. The energy of this place helped to heal my spirit and my body. I hope you too can be lifted by the beauty of the Adirondacks!
